Lindung Famili vs Cegah Famili: Similar names, different purposes.
Think of two financial questions.
If the breadwinner dies or suffers TPD
If the breadwinner dies or suffers total and permanent disability, what will the family use to meet its commitments? Lindung Famili is the plan to understand for death and qualifying TPD protection. It also has additional accidental death benefits, subject to specific conditions.
If a critical illness affects the household
If someone develops a serious illness and cannot work, what financial buffer may help? Cegah Famili offers a lump-sum benefit for 43 specified critical illnesses when the contractual requirements are met. It is not a medical card.
Definitions and waiting periods matter
The important differences go beyond the headline. Lindung Famili has its own TPD and accidental death terms. Cegah Famili has 30/60-day waiting periods for different illnesses, and angioplasty has a special benefit cap.
For Cegah Famili, a critical illness benefit reduces the death benefit. For Lindung Famili, a TPD payment reduces the death benefit. Do not treat these as independent full payouts.
Review your priorities first
Both plans involve yearly contributions, eligibility checks and the possible use of permitted EPF funds. That means less remaining in retirement savings.
You may be able to consider both plans under their respective rules, but that is not a reason to buy both without checking your existing protection and financial priorities.
